Jeff's story

Unite Legal Services’ procedure was very straightforward. It was a great service.

Jeff suffered a crush injury at work when he was asked to release a blockage from a pneumatic machine.

Jeff pressed the release button, which lifted the top of the machine by pneumatic pressure and while he was checking the machine, suddenly and without warning, the top of the machine slammed down on Jeff’s left hand.

The Defendant’s insurers admitted liability very promptly, although given the circumstances of the accident it had little choice but to do so.

Jeff was left with a nasty crush injury to his left hand as well as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

He was off work for a number of weeks, needing care and support. And even when he returned to work, his post-accident earnings suffered in relation to his pre-accident position.

Following negotiations with the Defendant, a reasonable compromise was reached and his case settled without the need for a trial.
