Thanks to the support of Unite Legal Services, I have been able to ensure that my mum received expert legal advice and compensation for her injuries.

Ellen was involved in an accident during the course of her employment. She was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing, when a third party driver who was driving carelessly, knocked her down. 

As Ellen’s son was a member of Unite, she qualified for legal assistance and advice and was contacted by a specialist road traffic accident solicitor to discuss her case. 

A rehabilitation company was jointly instructed by Unite Legal Services and the third party driver’s insurance company to determine what assistance Ellen required following her accident. The recommendations included intensive physiotherapy to get Ellen mobile again. The insurance company were happy to fund the recommendations made by the rehabilitation company. 

The third party driver’s insurance company later admitted liability for the accident and made a pre-medical compensation offer of £100,000. This was discussed with Ellen, and a further offer of £125,000 was made, which Ellen accepted. 

As this case was funded by Unite Legal Services, Ellen was able to retain 100% of her compensation. 

Ellen’s son, William, said: “Thank you to Unite Legal Services for all of their help. It was a great comfort knowing that my mum would qualify for assistance through this scheme. My mum is happy with the service she received and is now moving on with her life.”
